29.08.2025, The Migros Group has finalised the sale of the Hotelplan Group, successfully rounding off the portfolio streamlining it announced in February 2024. It will now focus on its core business. The new owners - the DERTOUR Group and HomeToGo Group - have extensive expertise in the travel industry.

The competition authorities have approved the takeover and the formal aspects of the sale (closing) have been concluded. The move puts Migros in a strong position for the future. It will now focus on its strategic business areas of food and non-food retailing, financial services and healthcare.

A new home for the Hotelplan Group
The DERTOUR Group, one of Europe's most renowned travel providers, is acquiring the travel agency and tour operator businesses in Switzerland, Germany and the UK. Interhome is set to become a part of the HomeToGo Group, Europe's leading holiday-home group, whose business model is a perfect fit.

Michel Gruber, the Chairman of the Hotelplan Group Board of Directors and Head of the Commerce Department at the Federation of Migros Cooperatives, says, "It isn't easy to say goodbye after so many years. However, DERTOUR and HomeToGo are strong partners who have the necessary expertise for the travel business and can develop the company further." Hotelplan was founded by Gottlieb Duttweiler in 1935 to promote tourism in Switzerland and offer affordable holidays.

A thank-you to Hotelplan employees and a look ahead
Migros is grateful to all Hotelplan Group employees for the commitment and passion they have shown. "We would like to say a big 'Merci' to CEO Laura Meyer, the entire Group Executive Board and the workforce for their enormous efforts. Even after the sale was announced, they remained fully focussed on our customers. We wish our former colleagues as well as the new owners every success in the future," Michel Gruber said.

Sales completed: focus on core business
Micasa's planned change of ownership will take place in early September. This marks the final step in the Migros Group's divestment, which was announced back in February 2024, the objective being to sell off those companies that were either loss-making or no longer fit the strategic orientation.

Mario Irminger, President of the Executive Board, commented on the milestone: "The fact that we were able to complete the sales in one-and-a-half years demonstrates the efficiency and determination of the Migros Group. This programme has laid the foundation for a strong and sustainable future for Migros."
