Credit Suisse appoints Paul McTaggart to the Equities Research Team |

23.05.2008, Credit Suisse is pleased to announce the appointment of Paul McTaggart to lead both the Metals & Mining Equities Research Team in Australia and Credit Suisse's Global Commodities research effort. Based in Sydney, Mr. McTaggart will report to Nick Selvaratnam, Head of Equities Research at Credit Suisse in Australia.
Mr. Selvaratnam said, "Paul is a highly regarded research professional who brings considerable local and global expertise to Credit Suisse's research franchise. With hands-on coverage responsibility for several of the critical stocks in global mining, Paul will be an invaluable member of our local and global research teams."
Mr. McTaggart, who will join Credit Suisse in Q3, 2008 as a Managing Director, said "Credit Suisse has an outstanding reputation for the quality and depth of its research capability. I am looking forward to working with the high calibre research teams here and offshore to continue to provide our clients with the insightful local and global research and analysis they need."
In his new role Mr. McTaggart will work closely with Julian McCormack to provide research coverage on the Diversified Resource, Iron Ore, Coal and Base Metal sectors. In addition to his responsibility for leading coverage of the Gold and Steel sectors, Michael Slifirski will maintain his coverage of some Base Metals stocks. Andrew Williams will continue to provide lead coverage of the Energy sector. Mr. McCormack, Mr. Slifirski and Mr. Williams are Australian based members of the Metals & Mining Equities Research Team.
Mr. McTaggart joins Credit Suisse from HSBC plc where as a Managing Director and Global Sector Head, Natural Resources he was responsible for rebuilding HSBC's research franchise in these sectors. Prior to that, Mr. McTaggart spent six years at Morgan Stanley in their London and Sydney offices. In London he was a Managing Director and Global Sector Head, Metals & Mining and Head of the Basic Materials team in Europe. While in his Sydney based role, he was an Executive Director and Country Head of Research. Prior to Morgan Stanley, he was a Director at Ord Minnett Securities responsible for leading the domestic Mining team in Sydney. Mr. McTaggart has also held roles with Rothschild Corporate Finance, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu and BHP Billiton.
