20.05.2026, Generali Switzerland served as the title partner of the Generali Geneva Marathon for the fifth time on 9 and 10 May 2026. This year, the traditional running event celebrated its 20th edition and once again ranked among the most important running events in Switzerland, attracting more than 27,000 participants. The Generali Geneva Marathon is internationally recognised as one of the most scenic city marathons in Europe. The route uniquely combines Geneva’s cityscape, lakefront and surrounding countryside.

1. Generali served as the title partner of the Generali Geneva Marathon for the fifth time on 9 and 10 May 2026.

2. More than 27,000 competitors participated, making it one of the biggest running events in Switzerland.

3. As a charity partner, the Generali foundation The Human Safety Net Switzerland collected donations for parent and child water activities in Geneva.

This long-term commitment underscores Generali's clear focus on community, health and prevention. During the marathon weekend, the brand was represented throughout the entire event environment, becoming part of a major sporting fixture that combines competition and emotion and brings people together, creating a positive impact far beyond the running community.

Marathon route: both picturesque and fast
The marathon route first leads through the Geneva countryside and surrounding villages before heading back into the city along Lake Geneva. The finish line is in the heart of Geneva, close to the famous Jet d’Eau. Runners enjoyed scenic panoramas with views of the lake, the Alps and the city of Geneva, making the race a truly special experience.

At the same time, the Generali Geneva Marathon is also considered a fast course: according to the organisers, more than half the participants achieved a personal best in Geneva.

Exercise as part of the corporate culture
Exercise is an integral part of Generali’s corporate culture. Many employees took part in the marathon themselves or volunteered as supporters. Running not only represents physical fitness, but also mental strength, balance and new perspectives.

CEO Rémi Vrignaud confirms this: "As a runner, I know that challenging your body also sharpens your mind. For me, the Generali Geneva Marathon isn’t just about athletic performance – it reflects exactly what defines Generali: a culture in which energy, perseverance and team spirit are just as important off the track."

Generali professional runners on site: Tadesse Abraham, Seare Weldezghi and Abdi Salam Ali
Generali was represented by distinguished sporting personalities: the Swiss marathon record holder and Generali ambassador Tadesse Abraham joined a panel discussion and was available for autographs. Generali Talents Seare Weldezghi and Abdi Salam Ali also competed in the event and aimed to beat their personal bests.

Visitors to the Generali stand were able to enjoy an interactive experience: they virtually measured themselves against Tadesse Abraham on a treadmill and directly compared their performance with that of the professional runner.

Running for families in Geneva with The Human Safety Net Switzerland foundation
By registering for the Generali Geneva Marathon, runners were able to voluntarily donate to The Human Safety Net Switzerland. In 2026, these donations will benefit L'École des parents in Geneva. It provides water activities in which families facing challenging circumstances can playfully become familiar with water. Many of the parents involved have a migration or refugee background and little or no swimming experience. Thanks to the donations collected, 20 parents and 20 children will have access to parent and child water activities starting in summer 2026.

More than CHF 18,000 was raised for the marathon. The Human Safety Net Switzerland foundation is committed to helping parents and children aged zero to six in difficult situations. This is the fifth time it has been a charity partner of the Generali Geneva Marathon.
