12.05.2025, The Obwaldner Kantonalbank (OKB) is continuing its commitment to top-level regional sports and has extended its sponsorship agreement with heptathlete Sandra Röthlin for another four years until the end of 2028. The Kerns athlete has been supported by OKB as its main sponsor since 2022. With this contract extension, the bank underscores its commitment to the sustainable promotion of young talent from the region.
Sandra Röthlin is one of Switzerland's most successful heptathletes. The 26-year- old from Obwalden has participated in numerous national and international competitions and won gold again at the Swiss Indoor All-Around Championships in February 2025. She has set herself ambitious goals for the 2025 season: She wants to break the 6,000-point mark in the heptathlon for the first time, join the elite national team, and also win a medal at the Swiss Championships in Lausanne. This year's crowning achievement would be participation in the World Championships in Tokyo in September.
As a member of the Kerns Athletics Club and the Unterwalden Athletics Center, Sandra Röthlin trains week after week with great dedication and discipline. She is also socially committed: In her free time, she breeds various breeds of rabbits and regularly visits retirement homes with her friendly animals to give the residents special moments.
Role model for young people
"Sandra is a role model for many young people in our region – she is determined, down-to-earth, and dedicated. We are delighted to be able to accompany her on her journey over the next four years," says OKB CEO Margrit Koch, explaining the contract extension until 2028. Sandra Röthlin's long-term goal is to participate in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles – a dream she is pursuing with patience and passion.
