February 09, 2011, As a precautionary measure, Acino’s marketing partner for Germany and the UK has decided to recall the Goserelin 1-month implant from the market due to technical deficiencies of the application system which occurred in isolated cases. There is no health risk for the patient. Acino is in discussion with its partner on the optimization of the application device to improve the handling of the product and to further increase acceptance by doctors and health care providers.
Moreover, Acino expects further delays in the approval process for its goserelin 3-month and leuprorelin 1- and 3-month products based on ongoing discussions with Germany’s Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices (BfArM). Despite the delays, Acino re- mains fully committed to successfully completing the development of its implant projects and is convinced of the significant market potential of both products.
