| from Sunrise GmbH
02.12.2015, Best network in the mobile voice telephony category in the three-country comparison, in each case scoring top marks in all categories (city, walk test, small towns & transfer routes and rail). Overall score: VERY GOOD. Average mobile broadband data throughput in cities (walk test) in second place at 49.9 Mbit/s. Strongest growth (+6) in a comparison of Swiss telecoms providers.
Sunrise has been voted the number 1 for mobile voice telephony for the second time in a row. In what is the most important category of the independent trade magazine connect, Sunrise not only outstripped the other Swiss providers, but even all providers in Germany and Austria. In the latest test by the independent trade magazine connect, the Sunrise mobile network received the overall grade “very good” and is thus the clear number 2 in Switzerland.
Elmar Grasser, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Sunrise, had this to say on this year’s connect network test: “Sunrise has gained a total of 92 points since 2012. This is clear confirmation that we have done everything right by modernising and optimising our network. With a top network and the best customer service, we offer our customers the best customer experience.”
Best network for mobile voice telephony in the DACH region
“The absolute favourite in this category is (....) Sunrise, which achieved the best result in the voice test not only in Switzerland, but throughout the entire DACH region – using the older, but proven circuit-switched voice transmission,” writes connect. Sunrise has launched the ‘Implementation VoLTE’ project, and plans to introduce this technology next year. Packet-switched telephony will in particular enable more efficient use of network capacity. In terms of quality, the introduction of this technology is less relevant. In addition, the number of devices that support this standard is still low.
The most important results
“Given the excellent quality of the Swiss mobile network, the stable second place of Zurich-based Sunrise is an outstanding achievement. Here too, such a placement would not have been possible without the continuous expansion of the mobile network. In the voice telephony category, Sunrise offers the best absolute performance – both in Switzerland and in the three-country contest,” states the trade magazine, summing up the Sunrise result. Scoring 191 out of a possible 200 points in this category, Sunrise has a considerable lead over its competitors in the DACH region. Customer requirements in the mobile communications segment are changing rapidly. By expanding the mobile network in line with customer needs, Sunrise is ensuring the quality of reception.
Even in the area of data usage Sunrise was able to further improve and is at a high level only slightly behind the competition. Sunrise was able to notch up additional points for data quality in particular. “In terms of reliability, Sunrise remains a premium provider,” reports connect, commenting on the Sunrise result.
Sunrise significantly increased 4G/LTE coverage in 2015 and intends to reach 98% coverage by the end of the year. In 2015, Sunrise increased indoor coverage through the use of the 900MHz band and introduced other changes which further improved voice transmission quality and call setup times. Thanks to the introduction of LTE Advanced, Sunrise is the only provider in Europe with inter-site carrier aggregation. With the Network App introduction in May 2015, Sunrise now receives real-time feedback from its customers and can implement this directly in network planning.
Sunrise wins the connect customer service test
Sunrise has the best customer hotline of all Swiss mobile network operators according to the recent service test by independent magazine connect in its 12/2015 edition. This means the clear number two in network test now offers its customers the best experience with respect to accessibility, waiting times, friendliness and quality of customer service.
