February 03, 2009, Tokyo. Credit Suisse has announced that Shinji Kuroda has joined its Japanese Equity Research Department as an analyst covering Japan's machinery sector.
Mr. Kuroda, together with Futoshi Usui, the bank's analyst formerly covering the plant engineering, shipbuilding, machinery and energy sectors in Japan, will form the capital goods research team to offer full coverage across all areas of these increasingly important sectors. Mr. Usui will continue to focus on plant engineering, shipbuilding and energy.
Mr. Kuroda joins Credit Suisse from Goldman Sachs where he had been a senior analyst covering the machinery sector since 2003. Prior to Goldman Sachs, he was a machinery sector analyst at Jardine Fleming (now J.P. Morgan). Mr. Kuroda started his career at Kankaku Research Institute in 1994 where he worked as a machinery and capital goods sector analyst. In the 2008 Nikkei Veritas analyst survey, Mr. Kuroda was ranked 8th in the machinery sector.
Today's appointment, which follows last year's hiring of Yoshiyasu Okihira as food, beverage and tobacco analyst and Nobumasa Morimoto as business software analyst, reflects Credit Suisse's commitment to further strengthen its equity business in Japan.
