Ascom Wireless Solutions awarded significant customer orders in the United Kingdom and in Germany

Ascom (UK) Ltd. has been awarded a major contract with the leading global telecoms company Cable&Wireless to provide a solution to a major corporate client in the United Kingdom. Ascom is offering a full support service maintenance agreement for the existing cordless infrastructure which encompasses 130 telephone exchanges. Moreover, Ascom will update the clients phones to the latest DECT technology phones (Ascom d81) providing them with more robust handsets for use in their locations. New locations will be implementing Ascom’s IP DECT platform which will talk directly to Cable and Wireless’ soon to be Centrex solution.

Ascom Deutschland GmbH secured a major order from the state of Thuringia to increase security in the detention center to be built in Arnstadt. For the first time the complete telecommunication system of a German detention center will be realized with voice-over-IP technology (IP-DECT). Ascom will supply an IP-DECT based personal safety solution which combines communication, personal security and positioning in a single handset for all staff. Moreover, the system can monitor the safe deposit boxes and the surveillance tours of the guards. Thanks to IP technology, administration will be more efficient and cost-effective.
