Implenia appoints new CEO

He will take over the function from Anton Affentranger, who is currently managing Implenia in the joint role of CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors. Anton Affentranger will remain Chairman of the Board of Directors.

Hanspeter Fässler currently works as ABB's Regional Manager Mediterranean and CEO of ABB Italy. After studying mechanical engineering at ETH Zurich, where he also gained his doctorate, and at Stanford University in the USA, he joined ABB at the start of the 1990s. He took on various increasingly senior management roles in Sweden and Switzerland, primarily in the automation and building technology sectors. In 2004 Hanspeter Fässler was put in charge of ABB Switzerland, and since 2006 he has been responsible for 5700 employees as Regional Manager Mediterranean and Country Manager Italy.

Hanspeter Fässler is married and speaks six languages. He will join Implenia on 1 July 2010 and take up his new role as CEO after an induction period. “With his international management experience and his extensive knowledge of technology and processes, Hanspeter Fässler will bring crucial complementary skills to the management of Implenia. By appointing a new CEO, we are separating operational and strategic management as we said we would. Having sorted out our shareholder structure, this now brings clarity at the most senior level of management too," says Anton Affentranger, commenting on Hanspeter Fässler's appointment as CEO.
